North American Industrial
Classification System (NAICS)

The national clearinghouse of data on the nonprofit sector in the United States

The NAICS system is used throughout the federal government, as well as in Mexico and Canada, to classify businesses and nonprofit organizations. Standard tables created by federal agencies such as the Census Bureau, the Department of Labor, and the Bureau of Economic Analysis use this coding system.

NCCS has developed a crosswalk (PDF) to link the more detailed NTEE-CC codes to NAICS codes.
